Inclusion, art and sustainability: the value of working together

When a project leaves a mark

A simple professional collaboration can sometimes turn into something more: a bridge between different worlds, different sensitivities coming together, an act that leaves a tangible, lasting mark.

This was the case during the annual meeting organised by the Italian office of a prestigious international brand, one of our longtime clients, which held an open day for its employees, their families and an external audience to celebrate its guiding values.

As part of the event, there was a corner dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion and sustainability. These were the main themes of a special project, developed to create authentic bonds. On this occasion we played a key role in bringing together players we deeply respect, thus creating an initiative that perfectly conveys what we believe work is all about: it is human, has deep roots in the local areas, and can produce shared beauty.

Hands, ideas and visions intertwined

The La Mano Non-Profit Social Cooperative, which trains and employs people with disabilities in the tailoring and printing industries, has made a limited series of artisanal shopper bags, sown with great care and expertise. What makes these objects even more meaningful has been the choice by the brand to use recycled fabrics that were originally their production scraps. This was a way to highlight the brand’s tangible commitment to safeguarding the environment.

Goretti was invited to enrich these shopper bags with decorative techniques, but we chose to take it one step further. Our suggestion was to involve the Lapsus association, with which we’ve been working for years and which stands out thanks to its commitment to promoting art as a driver of inclusion and participation.

Images that speak to the heart

The artists of Lapsus have made a series of illustrations related to summer, love and freedom of expression by integrating symbols and colours related to the brand’s visual universe. Their designs are vibrant and lively and have been turned into decorative patches enriched with rhinestones, printings and precious applications, which were then added to the shopper bags packaged by La Mano.

A simple yet very meaningful act: a way to provide once again value and beauty to scrap materials, to highlight a tangible message of inclusion, care and shared creativity.

One event, many connections

During the F&F weekend – which this year attracted 2000 visitors – the shopper bags were displayed and sold in the DE&I and Sustainability corner. The money raised was given to charity, which made the event even more significant.

Along with the shopper bags, the visitors also got to see Lapsus’ original works, which the printings were based on: authentic works that were much appreciated by the visitors, thus enhancing the bond between art, enterprise and society.

We were very proud of this: we were appreciated not only as a technical partner, but also as a company that is sensitive and active when it comes to social issues, sustainability and local area matters.

A shared horizon

This project is part of a process that for years has been guiding the way we work. It includes authentic relationships, enhancing diversity and shared responsibility. Our collaboration with Lapsus, which was part of other experiences with us such as the “A/STRATTO and “Primo Atto collections, is a tangible example of this.

Being an active part of projects centred on ethics, creativity and social commitment motivates us to constantly improve. And we hope that this experience will be the first step of a long, fruitful process that can bring together different worlds into a shared, beautiful and much-needed vision.
